I was doing t-bar rows today, attempting my final set of 275lbs, which I've done before. On my 3rd rep, I heard a popping sound in my lower back. Needless to say I ended my session and went home. I had my gf put bengay on it and massage it a bit. Now it hurts like crazy to bend over, and I'm hurting me a bit just sitting in this seat.

Do you guys have any idea what this could be? Did I fuck up my back permantly? I'm going to take a week off and see what happens. In addition, what should I do during an injury? Should I up my protein in my diet, so that I minimize atrophy? Someone help!

See a doctor. It takes more than a couple weeks for your muscles to atrophy significantly.

Shit happened to me when I deadlifted for the first time over a year ago. Terrible form and I fucked up my lower back, I was out for 2 weeks, I could barely laugh without being crippled by the pain. But it went away.

But then again, bruce lee fucked up his back permanently.

no, no shooting pains, thank god. The pain seems to be centralized on the lower back.

he said there is no shooting pain down his leg, making me assume that it isn't a slipped disc. I had the same injury this summer, and he said that it hurts to bend over and even sit, so I am pretty sure its a strained lower back.

for me, I strained it a little while training weights. Then I had a grappling tournament and in the middle of my match after a takedown my back was totally strained. The place was loud so I didn't hear anything, but the strain was so bad that I couldn't get up from a chair without extreme pain.

Welcome to the club. I was out of the gym for 3 months and not doing anything with back/legs for another 3 months after that. It took me 2 months to be able to put my own socks and shoes on after I hurt my back deadlifting.

I'm fine now, but I had a lot of chiropractor visits, trying to stretch that shit. I compressed 3 vertebrae in my lower back. Fucked my world up

Mine is still messed up from deadlifting like 10 months ago. Make sure you get an MRI to see if you have a herniated disc. Thats what I have, I think the pain is getting a little better with all the exercises I'm doing for it, but it is still pretty bad.
