Maybe I just spend too much time on POTN, but is there really anything good about this picture?

    http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=693115

People go on there and say how great it is and all I can think about is how anyone with a camera could have taken it. I see that crap so much though, it almost makes me think Im missing something.
Just let me know that Im hopefully still sane :hs:

    People suck at taking photos

Why do you spend time on POTN? I browsed it for like 20 mins once and was disgusted

    Good exposure, DOF, sharpness, etc.

    Timing is bad, looks akward.

I can't stand the picture critique sections on POTN. I only go there for gear talk/reviews, buy/sell, and the lens sample archives if I'm looking to buy a new lens.

I love the impact extra bold multicolored and stroked type. That's the best part.

exactly...and for what he's doing, i'm sure the parents are probably thrilled with the shots.

(that is to say that he does this for the parents...I didn't read the thread nor do I care to)

I think we're different on OT though, we're used to harsh criticism of every single thing in your life. POTN is used to being a very easygoing place where even lackluster photos are "great!"

Not everyone is an award winning photographer. We are all at different skill levelsand are sometimes proud of capturing a half decent photo once in a while.

It's not so much the circle jerking going on over there, but the POTN OP's comment in response to adam's post that irks me.

You're right. Why post a pic for C&C if you don't really want to hear what others have to say?

    I love comments like this.

I guess the guy should have brought out his alienbees, his seemless paper, reflectors, light meter and umbrellas then asked the kid while playing HIS game to strike a pose.

Oh, and he shouldn't forget to remove the blemishes, hide logos and clean the grass of the cleats too. Ah crap, there was a dead patch of grass in the shot...scrap the whole thing.
