and pulls his gun about 5 feet from you and demands your wallet. you're carrying on your side just above where you carry your wallet. do you just give him your wallet and hope he runs or do you pull yours and possible shoot him?

One night I was beyond hammered in New Jersey and some crackhead tried to mug me and my friend with a knife. Since I was drunk I got belligerant and reached for my back pocket where I keep my wallet and knife. Then I pulled out my knife and got louder, kicked the dude in the stomach and then stomped him out until his entire face was covered in blood.

So I probably would go for my gun. I'd rather be a corpse than give into some jackass crackhead. It's the principle of it, not the money.

I'd get in front of the wife, draw and fire.

I would hope that I would have the sense to at the very least evaluate the situation, it the guy looks like he can handle a gun it might be best to give him my wallet or at least throw it at him or on the ground and draw and fire while he is distracted by flying wallet/trying to recover it from the ground.

In with that much adrenaline pumping through be I would more than likely draw and fire until the hammer fell on an empty chamber. (maybe even more than one if it was the revolver.)

I'm going to have to say step in front of wifey, draw and fire, but aim to disable, not kill.
But then again, he's 5 ft away and has a gun too. Shoot him in the hand? lol.

    Joking. Laughing. Not serious.

BTW, I'm not the only one that suggested the idea of getting in front of the lady, the rest was just a joke:

I'd push my wife towards him and run away

If she truly loves you she'll come back

I figure anything I do is going to make him jumpy and there will be bullets flying everywhere.

How would you have handled it?

I almost always carry my S&W j-frame in my front right pocket in an Uncle Mikes pocket holster, and the little budge looks EXACTLY like a wallet. Even when i'm carrying my USPc9 in my VM2 at 3 o'clock, I still carry my j-frame in my pocket.

I've rehearsed this scenario a million times in front of the mirror ( ), if a BG demanded my wallet I would say "Okay okay man, don't shoot, you're making me nervous! here you go..." and then slowly reach into my front pocket, grip my j-frame and then draw and fire in a split second before he can react since I have the element of surprse.

I'd try to evaluate his state of mind. More then likely I'd just give him my wallet. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in court fees aren't worth it for my wallet. Although I'd probaby throw it past him so he follows where it falls and draw while I seek cover. if he leaves let him have it, if the situation deteriorates I have cover and a drawn weapon.

Give up the money and let him go.

The lawyers fees arent worth the contents of my wallet.

Maybe push her OUT of the way instead of directly into the line of fire.

I'd kill the guy then see if he had anything worth stealing on him. Just leave the body there.

see, i thought of that too, but ANY sudden movement could be shot at. So you push her out of the way, he tracks her while he's spooked, and fires.

the reason behind the quesstion is to see who would trust a person with a gun robbing you not to pull the trigger first.

"Drop" my wallet on the ground, 8/10 he's going to bend over to pick it up. When he does that I'd start blasting

So you would rather let criminals have anything they want? Does this expand to your home and vehicles as well?
