And is now telling me the camera arrived and he's getting ERR99 and the built in flash is getting stuck and making a motorized noise. I used that camera everyday for the last year and a half and never had these problems. He paid me through paypal what can be done if he tries to get his money back by claiming i sold him a broken camera?

What kind of lens is he using. Sometimes incompatible lenses will cause that error.
Or the idiot doesnt have it on all the way.

He will have to file a claim and then it's his word against yours I think. In the end the worst thing that can happen is he sends your camera back and paypal refunds him the $.

As far as the problems you are having perhaps the camera was not handled properly in shipping because I never had any such problems with the camera. In fact I used the body for work just last weekend. I did some reading on the ERR 99 and its an undetermined error and not an indicator of something serious as far as i'm concerned. Although I can assure you I never had any errors with the camera. The flash popup making a motorized noise and having trouble going up is why I believe it may have not been handled properly

^ my reply to his PM

    and his reply just now:

The shutter won't fire either, it used to make a sound, no there is no sound, no shutter, and it err99s. It is basically completely inoperable at this time. It turns on and you can use the menus and nothing else. The shipping box has no damage on it. The camera was just wrapped in paper filler by Staples I assume, and not wrapped in plastic bubble wrap as electronics should have been. I will have everything in the box as I found it waiting on either to send it back to you or you may request a UPS claim per their documented process. In any case, I will kindly request my money back as this is not what was advertised at all.

:ugh: saying the shutter wont fire. So he's flat out calling me a scammer, I have people on this site who can vouch for me as well as others on POTN and have a reputable ebay account and verified paypal address. I will not accept a camera that is inoperable when I damn well sent him a perfectly working body.

And I will not so willingly give him back the $ for a broken camera either.

tough situation, i'm not sure what i would do. keep us updated as i'm sure it is a possibility for any of us in the future.

if you know you sent him a 100% working camera, and he's saying it is unusable, then just stay nice and calm and suggest he contact UPS and file a complaint for handling damage.

Did you pack the camera or did the store? if you packed it poorly then you may be shit out of luck.

shitty situation bro, does he have any feedback?

as long as you insured it, i think you're okay but since you shipped by ups and the pkging wasnt damaged, they'll deny your claim :\

i didn't insure it :wtc: but the guy at the UPS location told me it was covered up to $500 without the insurance, or maybe i heard wrong. I'm not sure about his feedback but at this point it makes no difference.

I did and although i did not use bubble wrapping i used more than a sufficient amount of packing paper to absorb any impact and also he clearly states the box does not appear damaged.

reply telling him you have EVERY serial number documented and pictures of the body. if the item returned does not match said description, you will be filing fraud charges

good chance he'll shut the fuck up.

This. You think about sending a PM to Fuisonz06 with his info to find out if this guy is a scammer or not?

His trying to scam you, he had a old broken 30D, and he made an exchange and want to send you his old broken camera so he can get his money back.

Don't fall for it. That is why when you sell something, Sell AS IS. No money back.

I've gotten this error simply because I hit the flash popup button while my finger was over the flash holding it down.

The steps above should work to reset it. He may have to pop up the flash again.

He is a mod in the yard sale with a knack for finding info on people. If this guy has been found as a scammer on other boards he may be able to find out.
