If I purchase a handgun at the gun show at the george r brown on aug 20th, is there still a waiting period? I worked for the government, so I have already passed a 10 year background check, i've heard that helps in such matters? :dunno:

depending on who you buy it from, you may or may not have to wait for them to do a phone check on you. having passed a gov check, will not keep you from having to have the yellow sheet check run on you. don't worry, it only takes a couple min and you'll walk out the same day. as long as you're 21 and have a clean record, you'll be fine.

Glock 19 w/ night sights, a few hi cap mags, and a couple of the 30 round mags as well, and as much ammo as I can carry. Hopefully atleast. :noes:

Also... it seems everyone is saying "wait for the gunshow" ... are the prices there really that big of a savings??

Depends on how many private sellers there are. Most of the gun shows here in NM are just showcases for all the local gun stores, with only a few private sellers, so the prices are generally a lot higher than what you'd expect to see at a gun show. In the good old days (70s and early 80s when my dad used to take me), the gun show was 90% private sellers, and you could find all kinds of cool shit for really good prices. :hs:

Edit: The professional dealers do sometimes have sales for the gun show, though, so it might be cheaper to wait. :dunno:
