so how fucked would you be if you had 2 beers before bed and during the night someone broke into your home. if you had to defend yourself and shot them how fucked would you be? even if you did everything by the book. would it matter? lets say it was 3 hours after you had your last drink.

    Discuss.

cliffs: you have some beers before bed and later that night you are forced to defend yourself. are you fucked?

well, you wouldnt have been able to anticipate someone breaking in :dunno:

i can see how it might be frowned upon, but if you have a few beers with dinner, then go to bed only to have to shoot a burglar, who would have known?

i'm kinda of the mindset that there is NO reason for a stranger/intruder to be in my house at anytime. so as far as i'm concerned they have become fair game so to speak.

Yeah... you are basically just going to have to tell your drunken self to slow down, identify the target, and what's beyond it, then if necessary, slowly apply pressure the trigger while constantly making small corrections to the sight picture..

I personally make it a point to never get "drunk". I get buzzed rarely, but never to the point I feel I would be seriously inhibited.

Oh, there's no doubt about that, especially in Texas. If someone breaks into my place while I'm home... I kind of feel sorry for them... Unless they get a SERIOUS drop on me... They aren't making it out of here.

i'm not saying "drunk" but i guess you might be legally over the limit. i'm talking like 2-3 beers, not an 18 pack.

probably just ask him if he had any funyun's or ho-ho's. or if you shot him, you'd be like "that was totally not cool...... wait, what?"

I don't think you'd be over the limit if it was 2-3 beers 3 hours ago. I guess it really depends on your body type though. I imagine if you verify that it is a home invader and not a family member or something you'd be ok.

It seems like alot of times a shooting being justified or not isn't all that clear as we might think the situation might be. If you're shoot a crack head in your living room and he falls to the floor with his gun in hand you're probably not going to have any trouble. When it winds up being a neighbors or acquaintance and you fight or argue first, like seems to happen alot, then things get a bit muddier if your judgement seems questionable. Are you sure its going to be clear to the police, prosecutor, and a jury that he posed a serious enough threat to justify being shot and that you played no role in starting something? Keep in mind that alot of trouble involves drunks and alot of shootings involve people you already know.

A civilian generally wouldn't have a blood/breath test after a shooting incident. An LEO always would.
I wouldn't care if you were hammered as long as it was a justified shot.
