I'm heading out to the gun show today to look for a RRA stripped lower, a Glock 26 for carry, and extended controls for it. Maybe some 9mm ammo as this one is usually pretty good about bulk ammo. We'll see.

    Wish me luck!

I went to one 2 weeks ago and was looking for a RRA lower. The only lowers I found were DPMS and Bushy. Hell the only RRA stuff I saw at all was being sold by showgoers and what they had strapped to their backs.

    Good luck. :)

You used to be able to in Colorado. I have no idea if it's still legal anywhere else. It used to be that if you paid cash and the guy you were buying from didn't have an FFL then you could buy a gun without a background check. It doesn't work that way anymore :hs:

If there's any state that still allows that it's Texas.

You can still do it in AZ. If a private party sets up a booth/table at the show, its just a f2f sale.

There's no law against f2f cash sales in Colorado except at gun shows. They considered that a "loophole" so they closed it :(. I can still sell a gun for cash f2f, though.

B17) What recordkeeping procedures should be followed when two private individuals want to engage in a firearms transaction? [Back]

When a transaction takes place between private (unlicensed) persons who reside in the same State, the Gun Control Act (GCA) does not require any record keeping. As noted in FAQs B1 and B2, which are posted on this Web site in the "Firearms" section, a private person may sell a firearm to another private individual in his or her State of residence and, similarly, a private individual may buy a firearm from another private person who resides in the same State. It is not necessary for a Federal firearms licensee (FFL) to assist in the sale or transfer when the buyer and seller are "same-State" residents. Of course, the transferor/seller may not knowingly transfer a firearm to someone who falls within any of the categories of prohibited persons contained in the GCA. See 18 U.S. C. §§ 922(g) and (n). However, as stated above, there are no GCA-required records to be completed by either party to the transfer.

For information about any State or local regulations that may govern this type of transaction, it is advisable to contact State Police units or the office of your State Attorney General.

Please note that if a private person wants to obtain a gun from a private person who resides in another State, the gun will have to be shipped to an FFL in the buyer's State. The FFL will be responsible for record keeping. See FAQ B3 (Firearms).

at all gun shows ive ever been to all of the vendors always have these signs on their tables saying "Local" and then theyll have another sign saying "Personal Collection"
that way its f2f and not a vendor sale.

not if you are buying from a dealer, if it is from a private seller then it is up to him on what he requires if anything. What red tape are you talking about here in TX all you do is a basic background check and walk out with it the same day.

there was a gun auction about a month ago where my dad bought a winchester model 12, and there were no background checks. some 150 guns for sale too. just bid, give them the money, and take the gun home.

The ones I've been to around here are pretty shitty. Just fun to look at the old guns and play with them. I might head to the next one with some Cash and see what their ammo selection is like though.
