Hey, I was thinking about buying a rifle soon. I Wanted to hear some recomendations on what you guys think i should get. Im bascily looking for a rifle within the 900$ range and a calibur that is good for long range shooting, and has some power behind it. I'de like to get a gun that is acurate and has affordable ammo. So anyone got any sugestions?

So what exactly do you want to do with this rifle? You say you want to shoot long range but you also want power...

dont forget the cost of a scope.. long range shooting REQUIRES a good scope..

my recommendation, and what I'll be buying myself one of these days..

    Savage 10FP .308- $450
    Tasco Super Sniper Scope 10x42 $300 @ www.swfa.com
decent rings and mount, Leupolds are good..
bipod harris $80 or shooters ridge $40

after tax, shipping, etc, itll all be right around $900, you cant get a better deal or more accurate gun/scope combo for the money.

i've been looking at a couple bolt guns and had my eye on that savage but a lot of people have been saying lately that they've been getting sub moa out of the box with remington 700's...

range and power? .308 or .300 win mag.

Only problem is that he'll be hard pressed to find a Remington 700 and a good scope for $900 total. I'm sure he could find some sort of hunting rifle, but I'd get a PSS or one of the other 700's that are made for bench shooting, and they aren't all that cheap (around $700). Best bet would probably be a Savage.

I'd look at one of the 12 Series Savages, or the LE Series in .308.

also, i forgot the savages have their somewhat new accutrigger. user adjustable without having to take the rifle to a smith from 1.5 to 6lbs of trigger pull.
