I am looking at getting an HK USPc .40. I know the MSRP is around $749.00. Our local gun shop has them for about $100 over MSRP. In addition, I am looking at an RRA AR-15 DEA and the MSRP is $2295, and they are selling them for $2,495. Should I try and talk them down or how does this work?

go to a different shop, no reason you should pay over msrp for readily available firearms

"I don't mind paying a bit extra to support a local business and a stocking dealer who will give me good customer service. But... I know the market value of these guns and I wont' be taken advantage of. I have money to spend if you'd like to deal with me on the price. If not I'll take my business elsewhere..."

If he still doesn't want to deal then find a local FFL to process transfers for you. There are plenty of online vendors selling at or below MSRP for both those guns, and an FFL will probably on charge you $25 or so per transfer.

I asked him if he would accept an FFL transfer. He said since he carries the gun he would charge me 20% of the sale price. :eek4: He said, "There are way to many people that will sell the gun for a $20 profit. I can't operate that way as I have to pay for hundreds of guns that I have to keep in stock, bla bla bla."

You need to find another FFL. Try a big store that sells firearms, they usually don't care. Also, pawn shops are usually FFLs if they sell firearms too.

Damn. My local shop has most of their guns marked $100 BELOW msrp.

Good thing I got my USP back before they became way too fucking expensive...

What websites do you recommend that would sell for lower than MSRP? I have no problems with waiting or doing a transfer to an FFL dealer.

    I just checked online.

He is actually the only RRA dealer in the state. There was one other, but they are strictly law enforcement sales only. :(

Can't you order RRAs online? If necessary, go to an FFL in a different city

www.ar15sales.com for one... they list the RRA Government for $2090.

http://www.adcofirearms.com lists it for $2150 but they're on backorder.

Basically, go to ar15.com and go to the Industry section. There has to be half a dozen RRA dealers at least.

Also, just because other local shops aren't stocking RRA dealers, chances are they can order you one through their distributor(s), so it is probably worth calling around.

Find another FFL, look for one that operates out of a non-gun related business or out of their home. NEVER pay a % of anything for a transfer, it's flat fee only. They can only charge you sales tax on the value of the fee, some try and charge you on the value of the gun, don't fall for that shit. Most don't even charge the sales tax on the fee, mine doesn't.

Stories like yours are the reason guns shops are going out of business.

build an AR with LMT/stag/RRA parts and youll still spend way less than that!

i built an M4 with Stag, Vltor, Magpul, and Rock River parts and then topped it off with an EOtech 512 and it only came to 1200 w/ optics.

    explore other options:o

Just wanted to chime back in. I went in today and he was pretty decent. He said he was over MSRP on the gun because of overhead and stuff. He sold it to me for $2300 + tax. He then threw in 3 extra magazines too which was cool. Then, there was a SureFire rep there and he gave me a P61 120w attachment for free since I was buying the gun.

To be fair, he did offer to sell the gun for $2200, but said that would be an order only. He said RRA advertise 6-8 weeks for them to arrive, but normally take longer. Being that I was being impulsive I wanted to just take the gun home.

It came out to be like $2550 out the door, with 4 total mags, some extra goodies, and 3 boxes of ammo. Went to the range with Slick26 and we squeezed off 150 rounds. I just got done cleaning it out. I will take pics of the gun and my targets when I get home. At 20 yards the rounds had about a 1-1.5" grouping, at 25 yards it was about a 2" grouping, and then I used an Osama target at 30 yards and all shots landed in his face. :big grin: Now, keep in mind this is my first rifle too!

    It was badass!

Yeah that was fun. What a smooth gun! :wackit:

Too bad we went so late. Next time I don't want to have to rush so much.
But still... what a fun gun.
