Im thinking of buying a K98, it would be my first gun. Any helpful hints of what to look for, etc?
Make sure it isn't shot out, look for cracks in the wood. I've got one thats pretty beat up but it shoots good, lots of dings and scratches in the stock. Thought about refinishing it but I'll leave it how it is gives it charector.
a lot of countries have made them. are you looking to collect or just shot it?
What do you want to do with it?

Shoot... I dont need something I'm afraid to fire. Bonus points if it has the nazi propaganda on it though.
if you want something that is german third reich you will be paying a lot more for it. a lot of countries have made K98s. the more expensive will be german around 800ish the cheaper with be spanish or yugo 300ish.
http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/search.php?searchid=1164657 this place should beable to tell you all you need to know about the markings on a good k98.
My cousin just got one, ordered it online... The bore was in AMAZING shape, stock was good too. 1947 model i think he said, 129$ shipped.
PM me if you'd like the place so I remember to ask him
SOG has German K98s for a third of that 800ish. Are they not really German? They are advertised to have all the nazi markings intact.
You can get Yugos alot cheaper than 300 also. Check AIM.
