For your own personal guns you can make any title 1 guns without a manufacturer's license.

If you want to be in the business of building or manufacturing Title 1 firearms (handguns, shotguns and rifles) you need an 07 FFL.

If you want to be in the business of manufacturing Title 2 items (suppressor, SBS, SBR, AOW, MG) you need an 07 FFL with a Class 2 SOT.

What is it you are looking to design or build?

I was just wondering what it would take, I have always been a fan of turning a piece of metal into something of use. I took a piece of 8 inch stainless bar and turned it into a pan because it was there and was going to be thrown away. If you manufacture guns for your own do you need to declare them to some one?

Not unless it is required by your state. The BATFE recommends that you put a serial number on anything you build for yourself but even that isn't required.

    Wirelessly posted via wap.offtopic.com (HTC-8500/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 6.8) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

I would agree with the serial #, in case it gets stolen or something but I see no reason to notify them otherwise (unless its required by law) :dunno:

exactly. I would serial# it and I would engrave either my name or my LLC into it. Thankfully Oregon does not require reg outside of FFL sale.
