I would too. Watching now.
Can't watch it, keeps repeating commercial.
I don't have a problem with a qualified person ever carrying a gun - be it in a school or in a hospital or a church. A building does not change a person.
Personally I would carry if I were a teacher, approval or not.
I hate that Brady douchebag....
They asked him, "What if that was your child in the VT classroom? Wouldn't you want someone on their side with a gun?" His response, "Sure, we all wish John Wayne or James Bond is sitting next to us in that type of situation." Good job, he didn't answer the question at hand, all he did was make a statement that he wants someone who is considered a "qualified shooter", suchas someone like John Wayne or James Bond. He also believes that being in a classroom the likelyhood that the gun will injure a student, be stolen and enter the hands of a ganster, etc. rise drastically.
Seriously, what is wrong with those fucking people?
He absolutely didn't have a case, and his facts... which weren't really even facts at all... were unfounded and emotion-based. Again. Imagine that.
If a teacher, who is a person (wow, this one blows me away... really?) feels threatened in their lives, by an ex-lover or whatever, should be able to carry a gun on them if the local laws allow it. The debate should end there. The law allowed it and they are doing it legally. Period.
Being in a school, or court house or other government building like a post office or whatever does not change the parameters of ANYTHING.
The only thing that changed is the address. That's it.
And who knows, maybe that teacher, or other school officials that are allowed to carry legally, could thwart something more serious if someone were to enter the building with intent to harm the children. I think this is a good idea.
Now obviously I think it would be a bad idea if students were allowed to have a gun, unless we are talking about college, in which they pay individually to be there.
I wouldn't have any issue with a teacher carrying, but only if they are trained etc... Not just joe blogg with a .45
