Please give me suggestions. I can probably pick that up for right around $1k. What else should I be looking at?

    Dan Wesson?
    Les Baer?
    Sig?
    Colt?
    Springfield?

Keep in mind this is for CA :hs:

shiny, reflects, more slick, makes you look like a douche.

I prefer my guns to be functional over form.
I want a gun that I can drop in a mud puddle, pick up, shake and shoot if need be.

The most expensive Springfield you can buy. Series 80 1911s suck IMO and the Kimber has a firing pin block. Get one with an internal extractor (I think all Springfields are that way).

Kimber's good. I had an eclipse II 5", damn beautiful gun. For some reason I always ended up shooting better with my friend's springfield though...

Because 10mm is considered a destructive device in Ca.

I liked the Kimber, but the weird safety system kinda freaked me out..plus it just didn't excite me when I shot it. :dunno:

i have a kimber warrior it works fine except being picky on magazines but i think kimbers and springfields are overprice.if i had to pick again i would get the dan wesson a semi custom gun for a fraction of the price ftw.

i'm still confused. i know that wilson combat and les baer make superior 1911s compared to kimber, but they're double or triple the price. the kimber tactical entry/tactical custom got really good reviews in recent press with 1.5" groups at 25 yards.

i own 5 SIGs and a walter PPK/S, and my SIGs have never, ever jammed on me. are kimbers just shitty pistols? for my first 1911, shouldn't it be good enough? also confused about the whole internal/external extractor thing.

    :hs:
