    Yugoslavian SKS (with bayonet) $210... 10 days till i get it :hyper:

    what tips can you guys give me on inspecting a gun such as this? i want to make sure i get a good one before i leave the store with it.

    make sure the rifling is good, they should have a barrel light you can use...if they will let you, clean the barrel to see if there is any rust presant as well....some look like they have rust, but it's really just crap that has collected. they greese pack the shit out of all yugo SKS's I have seen(aside from the unissued)....you are looking at a good 5 hours of cleaning time :)

    other than that make sure the wood is in good condition, serial #'s match etc...

    Cosmoline is a greasy type preservative substance. Basically when countries store guns they put them in 55 gallon drums and fill it with cosmoline. Keeps the stock and receivers from breaking down.

    It's nice fun stuff to clean off.:bigthumb:

    turpentine, laquer thinner, etc. mineral spirits. they all work very well to dissolve cosmolene.

    Make sure to clean out the trigger group. Dirty trigger groups have been known to go F/A. Also be sure to clean out the gas tube, but dont put any lube in there.

    Personally I'd buy a Butler Creek stock. Every other stock I've come across is trash.
