Guess what I get to do tomorrow? *UPDATED W/ PICS*

I am going to get a media pass and get to sit in the field level camera pit for the Padres vs. Dodgers game at Petco Park. I'll only be allowed to go for a couple innings but it'll be fun anyways. I'll post pics tomorrow night!

awesome! that sounds like fun. What gear are you taking? And how'd you land the pass?

Im taking my d70 w/ my 18-70, 70-300 and my 50mm 1.8. Thats all I have unless I can borrow something from work (read: 12-24). My dad knows a couple people and asked for me.

Thats cool, but prepare to be snubbed by the others. The cheepest lens you'll see in the pit will be a 70-200 IS. Mostly 300 and 400 2.8's

I'd go and rent a big ole lens for the night, afterall, its not like this would be a regular thing, why not take advantage of it. Atleast get something faster, you're gonna want good shutter speeds. I went to an Angels game on monday and just brought a wide angle for fun as we were in the cheep seats, I was at ISO 400 at F/4 1/125, on a F/2.8 lens. A max aperature of 4 or higher will kill you. To get the faster shutter speeds to stop action you'll already be int he ISO 800-1600 range.

This is a one time thing and the guys down there know im just getting started. They actually think im in a photography class (thats what my dad told them). Im hoping they'll give me some pointers. And I was prepared to be using somewhere in the area of 800 or 1600 iso. My priority will mostly be aperature so i can keep the shutter at a good speed. We'll see!

I didn't know places "rented" lenses. Name a few if you know of any.

I'm a little far North for you, but there has to be some down there, just call up the actual camera stores, not the kitz/ritz crap. If you have a Samys or Calumet I know they do

    Here they are!

I threw my hat down to take this photo then several other photographers came and took a few before I picked it back up. Someone's getting paid for my idea!!

3rd base photo well--I didn't realize I was taking photos in front of Tommy Lasorda and the Dodger's GM until I turned around to watch a foul ball.

I was there for 7 innings and got to move around more than I thought. It was fun and definitely an experience. I had a photographer media pass around my neck all night, which of course made me feel important!

Nice shots, and nice touch throwing the hat down in the 2nd picture, I can see why others jumped at that opportunity  So'd you end up renting or borrowing any lenses?

no, unfortunately I barely had time to get down there after work. I found out that Nelson's in Little Italy does rent lenses but I wouldn't even know what to get. Probably a 2.8 500 or so.
