    been looking around at new cars to get lately and the GTI is certainly catching my eye. HID's, DSG tranny, 2.0 Turbo, great mpg...

    anybody driven one yet, or have one? your thoughts/comments/criticism?

    I like em, but I haven't driven it yet.

    Wish I could've grabbed one up when they were giving guitars away.

    Sounds like a good deal, but if you put 8000k bulbs in the HID lamps, I will find you and kill you in your sleep.

    The human eye is designed to see yellow light -- in daytime, blue light is only useful to tell whether something is yellow or not -- but in nighttime, your eyes get about 20x more sensitive to blue light because that's the only kind of light available, and getting hit in the face with a blast of bright turquoise light from ricer HIDs is TERRIBLE for your night vision. Not to mention, for people who have better-than-normal night vision (like myself), ricer HIDs are literally painful to see. So, if you want me to run into your car head-on because I can't see WTF I'm going, by all means, "upgrade" the stock bulbs.

    I drove one a few weeks ago, fun little car, pretty quick too. I haven't tried the DSG though, but I have heard good things

    i wont ever upgrade stock bulbs. test have shown 4300k bulbs put out the most lumens, which is what produces the brightest (and whitest) light.

    i hate purple bulbs, blue is ok, but i prefer white

    DSG = Win.

    Everyone loves the GTI. Just look at the reviews from just about everyone.

    What are you waiting for?

    DSG is gay... you'll get tired of it in a week and then all you have is a fast car thats an automatic. go with the manual. it will be more rewarding. I'm not a MKV guy though. i much more prefer the oldschool.

    the problem with a manual is that when i crashed my bike months ago i couldnt drive my current manual car. so having an automatic would still allow me to drive in case i broke an arm again. broken arms 3 times and i hate having to drive somebody elses car. plus im getting lazy in my old age
