I have aftermarket memory, and my iBook crashes sometimes. I do not think that is why. OS X isn't completely stable on any Mac. Just the way it is with operating systems in general. X crashes on me sometimes on a Linux box. GUIs crash.

The only time I've ever had OSX crash on my iBook was when I installed some bad RAM.

I've had different progs crash, but never OSX itself. This MacIntel has had a few problems when waking from sleep, but the latest update seems to have fixed that.

Same here.. I put some RAM in my Al PowerbookG4, and it would crash every 5 minutes. Ever since I found compatible RAM, I've had zero issues with OS X itself crashing.

I've had Firefox freeze a couple of times, but I know thats a FF issue, this was the first time the entire system froze on me :hsd:

i've crashed a mac before. it was a first gen emac a few years ago. i was playing a flash game online, the one where you have a set of dentures and you catch falling gummy worms.
just plain froze, nothing a reboot couldn't fix.
never crashed one since them, although i have had safari quit a couple of times on my friends 1ghz powermac g4

OSX is only as stable as you make it. What programs have you recently installed on it?

ive had my powerbook g4 17" for 2 years, it has never crashed, programs have crashed but the computer it self has never crashed although one time i remember i had a problem with it getting stuck in sleep once, i wanna say it came out but i dont remember completely, thats the only time ive had a problem. mac used the stability of os x as a selling point but from what i know now i think most computers OS are pretty stable, my roommate has never had a problem with his computer crashing and he is running xp, i still prefer macs though. had a pc box with like win98se on it once, crashed all the time, got rid of it 3 months later but ive always had at least 1 mac for the past 11-14 years or so, i love them

only programs i have a problem with crashing semi-often would be firefox and AIM, but i no longer use AIM

If I try to mount the samba share on my Linux box from OS X using Finder, it will crash EVERY SINGLE TIME. Permanent pinwheel. Instead I have to mount it via NFS from the command line.
