I'm converting my drum brakes to disc brakes on my 66 Rustang. Currently I am running 15X8 with 4.5 backspacing for the wheels and custom brackets and new cobra calipers, however the wheels don't clear the calipers all the way. My question is, is it a good idea to grind some metal off the caliper? Not too much, but enough for me to double check. Bye bye pretty red calipers, but I'd rather do that than blow more money on bigger wheels/tires. I need that money for the 5 speed swap. :)

I own a second gen Camaro and the hot thing now is to run C5/C4 Vette brakes on our cars. Guys are constantly grinding down the fins on the calipers to clear the stock rims. When I did the 2 inch drop on my Tahoe I ground the back of the caliper to allow me to reposition the brake line. I don't see an issue with it. Besides it ads to that whole sleeper feel. :big grin:

It's either grind brake caliper or notch the wheel, whichever you feel more comfortable with? Use common sense I say, if it's going to require a shit ton of grinding then it's not so smart, but a little bit shouldn't hurt a thing. You can always pull a ricer move and call it weight savings :hsugh:

You could also use it as an excuse to run track pads, and say that you ground off the fins to keep the pads at operating temperature longer. :coolugh:

I had to grind the calipers on the rear of my 4th gen Camaro to clear Pro-Stars, alot of guys do it. Just don't take too much off.

Or you could just say you ground the calipers down so your wheels would fit.

It was a joke, geniuses. One person already suggested a ricer excuse for grinding down the calipers, so I suggested another ricer excuse.

I do know, yes. It's a shame, though, that there are some people in here that are too dumb to know how to draw a line between two points, and thus at least figure out there was no reason to take that post seriously.

Pretty normal, actually. I've been shat upon so many times by people who thought I'd be a convenient person to hate that I barely even notice now. It's a shame there are so many people who can find nothing better to do with their mental energy than to aim it at other people and shoot it like a gun, but I'm glad I'm not one of you.

I'm also glad, incidentally, that your opinion has absolutely no bearing on my life.

Yeah, it tells me most people are bastards. Bastard-coated Bastard with Bastard filling.

Seriously though, if z284pwr had said the exact same thing I said, the reaction would've been totally different.

Of course I forgive you. You know not what you do.

It is pretty pathetic that the reaction was based 100% on the fact that I posted the comment, and not on the comment itself, though. I mean seriously.

No, not really. People would have just ignored what he said. You have proven yourself to be such a faggot over and over again that many people like to voice how much that hate you. It is as simple as that.

See now, to me it seems like a waste of energy to even bother feeling anything about someone floating out there in hyperspace. Case in point: if I met YKM I'd probably hit him with a bat without giving it a second thought, but there's no use giving his avatar the evil eye while I think about what an asshole he is. I just read his posts, increment my mental "YKM is an asshole" counter, and move on.

Just kidding; I don't count the number of times YKM acts like an asshole, because even that is too much effort to waste on text on a screen. I just read his posts and think nothing of them. In that respect, I have to give him props for at least being succinct, so I can get them over with quickly.
