thought it might be a cool idea for a thread instead of the usual "how do i take cee" "where should i pin" threads. was inspired by the pull through thread (props to superbri)

list one, two, three, however many you want, unconventional exercises that you don't usualy see in the gym but are wonderful exercises none the less.

my current favorite two are bar bell stepups and one legged squats. i used these as low weight replacements for regular squats when i hurt my low back.

bar bell stepup : use ~55lbs to start off, it takes a lil practice to get used to. place barbell across your back like normal squats, step up onto a bench/box/whatever of appropriate height (i just use a regular flat bench, no boxes in my gym) with foot A. you are lifting urself with A. bring foot B up on the box. stand up. lower foot B. i leave A on box and repeat B's motions for the reps. then switch legs. helps train balance/coordination/stabilizers.

one legged squats : find a flat bench, take 2 db's in hands, place one foot back on bench behind you. you'll have to judge the distance between the bench and the foot on the floor for whats optimal for you. squat down till back knee touches floor, come back up. repeat. again this is great for balance/coordination/stabilizers.

anyone else have some great unconventional exercises they use and love?

so post half the shit you do that's unconventional, not just like regular deadlift or squats... regular gym members are cardio bunnies, they just know bicep curls. post something interesting.
