Excuse my retarded desktop
I've been having the same issue on and off. Do they replace the motherboard or give you a new computer?
that happened on my G4, except it was weird green lines all over the place, not just in menus...
well i went in with a different vid card related issue a month or so ago. Gave me a new comp. Make sure to take screens for evidence as they probably won't be able to recreate it.
Wirelessly posted via wap.offtopic.com (bowthefuckdown iphone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5B108 Safari/525.20)
that's fucking terrible.
did you see that all the recent nvidia cards have been ruled defective?
don't know what apple can do besides just keep replacing them
I had that problem with my first MBP and I sent it in for a replacement. So far I haven't had any problems with the new one
Some computer makers are just releasing BIOS updates that decrease the video card performance to keep the card from overheating.
The underclocking doesn't stop the video card from overheating, just delays the total failure of the card until the warrantee expires.
fuck, so its basically an endless cycle? Any way to eliminate the problem?
well this is some fucking bullshit. I don't know what to do. I can keep replacing my MBP until the warranty is up, but if the vid card dies when its out of warranty and they try to make me pay for anything I am going to raise absolute hell.
usually they are pretty good for supporting computers that have had a life time worth of problems.
Also when Apple replaces a part, it comes with a 3 month warranty.
the same shit is now happening constantly, guess I will be taking the fucker in AGAIN when I get a chance. May as well get a nice history of me taking my machine in for the same problem so when it dies out of warranty I will have a leg to stand on when I lose my mind at the genius bar.
sounds like a real fix to me...
Or keep the fan on at all times.
Do lemon laws apply to Computers?
some evidence for them that this is clearly happening again since the last update:
for the record, its fucking nVidia's fault really, but yeah, this pisses me off. I did not drop the kind of money on this laptop that I did for this bullshit to happen.
I do a lot of web design and when the lines of code get fucking garbled like that text in the above pic I posted the computer is next to useless.
I have not had that happen and my warranty is up as of last month.
I went 2 months without issue and now that I'm at work without my power adapter it's happening every 10 minutes.
it only happens on the most recent mbps
