I had seen a few go for 900 and less, so I had hoped to get one for under 900, am i being too optimistic?

Can someone get the contact from that guy on nikon cafe for me by any chance? I really want this lens before i head to Germany.

usually the 28-70 goes for 1000-1100

some people might be getting desperate to unload it fo the 24-70:dunno:

it's a great lens, and anything under 1k is a bargain IMO. It's not being made anymore so you're only going to find it used.

The alternative is the 17-55/2.8. This is also a great lens (and wider on the back end), and can usually be found for about 850. As a matter of fact I think there's one on a local Texas forum right now for 850, but I'd have to check to make sure.

I might eventually unload mine to go to the 24-70, but not now! I need other lenses before I get this one.
