I have a 3.2ghz p4 Extreme edition with HT technology with a abit ic7-g mobo. I have 2 160gb hdd's. a chaintech geforceFX 5200 256mb vid card. 1GB of hyper-x ddr2 pc3200 ram. with a 550watt diablo power supply. Games usually play great on them but when I try and play far cry or the new f.e.a.r demo it is unplayable it's so slow even at 640x480 resolution and I don't understand what the bottleneck could be.

    Can anyone help?

Yep... a FX 5200 is a pretty damn slow card, sorry to say. If you upgraded to a 6600GT or better your system would play games quite well.

ATI X800 or nVidia 6600 or higher cards would help out a lot. The 5200 was a good card but isn't going to cut it well in newer games.
