I know it's a weird question, but what is something that you feel really has an impact on making you a better grappler that you don't see or hear experienced grapplers teach newbies?

Just trying to get some conversation goin.

Mine: staying in your breath. the simple act of breathing deeply calms your mind and helps you stay relaxed, and I feel not enough people teach their students to breathe when grappling.

I was just going to say controlling breathing, and not wasting energy on risky moves.

Not to grapple everybody with the same style (large/small guys). A lot of newer members of my bjj club try to outmuscle the biggest guys, and it gets them nowhere.

calm relaxed breathing is important in ANY physical sport. in running, you cramp up easily if you're breathing too hard because you're working your stomach a lot, especially for long distance running

think about your technique, and not his.

dont let anyone make you take a step backwards.
