I was wondering if you guys wear or plan on wearing mouthguards or cups. Personally I'm going to buy an O-Pro mouthguard shortly and am looking into getting a flexible cup.

Any of you guys have any experience with O-Pro mouthguards? I have only heard good about them.

    Thanks as always.

I always roll with a cup. Don't really use a mouthpiece when just grappling, although I don't usually get very crazy when I grapple. My instructor recommends wearing one tho. :dunno:

I got both mine at target.

jeez man. why wait for the inevitable? do you just hate your genitals and teeth that much?

I never was much for mouthguards or cups either back in the day, but these days I don't take any chances. Young and foolish I guess.

I honestly never even think about a mouthpiece... it never occurs to me that i could get hit in the teeth, I guess since I've never seen it happen. I've been hit in the mouth, but only hard enough to bust a lip.

I think I will start wearing a cup however... especially now that I'm doing more standup... drilling inside leg kicks has me a little nervous :)

I lost a tooth by getting hit in the mouth with a tennis racket when I was younger. The surgery and tooth replacement procedure that followed SUCKED. trust me, get the mouth piece.

yeah ive been training for longer. ive been hit in teh balls, but not so bad.

i chipped my tooth a tiny bit..

some people use em, but most dont. theyre a better idea to use in tournaments becuase people go crazier, and you cant really say stop unless youre blatantly hit in the mouth or balls

someone at my school recently got a nice set of teeth marks in his scalp sprawling against a double leg. mouthguards are good if standup is happening.

I don't see how anyone would want to grapple without a cup. I did for a couple months but fuck that.

I know I should get a cup, but I think the mouth-guard is the most important part.

I wore a cup a few times but it hurt like hell if I had someone in a tight halfguard or any other situation where something is pressing into your crotch.

Mine hurt pretty bad too so I bought a youth one instead. It's pretty much the same size but more narrow

I'm amazed. I never thought so many folks would roll without a cup.

:wavey: though KM is a "little" different :dunno: (but as we're moving into more takedowns and whatnot, i've been thinking about sporting one. had a knee brush my nuts yesterday :noes: )

Any cups you would reccomend. Any that I have tried are way too uncomfortable.

I think they are all uncomfortable. You just get used to it.

although some I've heard recommend compression shorts instead of the standard athletic supporter. :dunno:

Pretty much the same for me when i roll, i have the double sided mouth piece with the hole to breathe through in the middlel. Cant beat it for a $10 mouth piece IMO.

I use a mouthguard but no cup. I had a simple old mouthguard from back in the day that i used that worked great but i decided to pick up a shockdoctor green mouthguard with all the bells and whistles. Cost me $20 bucks. and fits like crap. what a waste. im back to using the cheapy mouthguard that works perfectly.

I always wear a mouthpiece during actual sparring.

There are many time in KM where you don't need one, but during a fight or combatives class, you are required to wear one. It isn't required for regular classes, but is advised when working against another person.

I got a fat split lip from a woman who didn't quite pull an elbow in time. I was really glad I had my guard in as it could have been a lot worse.
