So I just got back from grapplers quest this weekend, went with my instructor and bunch of people I train with...

I placed 1st in the no gi intermediate 140-149 lbs division

Didn't place in my blue belt 147 and under division

great learning experience, I ran into a guy who stalled for 3 minutes with me in his guard by pulling out my gi from the belt by reaching over my back and then pulling it over and around my face (looked absolutely retarded). I went for a footlock after i got his guard opened, he didn't tap so I let go and he just sat up and was awarded 2 points for a questionable sweep. 5 seconds later the time ran out... he wins 2-0.

This motivates me to change my gi game a little by going more balls out to break the guard open early if I am put there, and basically avoid all forms of stalling.

thats one reason I dislike the gi game so much... too easy to stall.

The last tournament I attended I lost 2 matches because of people getting top position and stalling the rest of the match. It wouldnt have been so bad except I never thought to train for that, heh.

I was unprepared for that I guess, always next time though...

I was just looking at http://www.nationallyranked.com/ and noticed my name in 18-30 no gi male at #12, but a girl "emily kwok" is also on the list... Anybody know how this system works? lol...

you can stall in no gi too.. just get a takedown and sit in someones guard with all your extremities tucked in
