    :(

I don't think it's really set in yet. It's hard to think about with him having less than 6 months to live. And there is no hope for a cure or treatment.

Are you close with your grandpa? Does he live near you?

It doesn't make you a bad person to all of a sudden spend more time with him just because he is dying. Don't deny him and you of a relationship because you feel like you should have seen him more when he was healthy, therefore you won't make an effort now.

Best of luck. Cancer changes families forever

well, my troubles just got worse. my mom went and got a head CT today because she had bump on her head, and has been having headaches for a while. she's been talking with a slight lisp for the last couple days, and her tongue had been a bit swollen. well today we found out what it is. my mom has multiple brain tumors. one on the side of her head that is mainly attacking the bone there I guess. and one that is closer to the bottom back of her brain, near the brain stem that's the one that is causing the lisp and tongue problems.

I was kinda in shock about my grandpa having cancer, but kinda understood, he's much older and these things happen :( but I really dont want my mom to die too. she's only 56, and has already beaten and survived breast cancer. I didnt really cry that much when I found out about my grandpa... and i've only known about this for a few hours. I cant stop crying. :wtc: :wtc:

no she's scheduled to meet with a couple specialists in the next couple days. she's been a breast cancer survivor for 15+ years. lol she said that if she has to do chemo again that she wants to dye her hair into a purple mohawk before she starts treatment.

I dont know much about brain cancer. realistically is there really any hope that she can pull through this? 2 big known tumors on opposite sides of the brain. and they're still gonna do more tests. they said that they might find more :wtc:

An update on this thread I guess :sad2:

I never saw him from when he was diagnosed to when he died. I wanted to, but it was his request. Grandpa didnt want to see anybody really. It only made him worse. My dad (Grandpa's son) went and saw him, and said that he wasnt in real physical pain, but had uncontrollable anxiety attacks. He would start to cry and wouldn't be able to stop. Seeing family & friends and saying goodbye over & over hurt him and his will to live.

:hs: an update here... It wasnt brain cancer. though the tumors are in her head it looks like her old Breast Cancer has come back and metastasized into the bone in her head. though since then she has had radiation treatment on a couple tumors in her head and she had seemed to get better.

a few days ago she went and got a follow up CAT scan, and they found more tumors in the rest of her body. She seems to be in pretty good health for now. but we dunno of a timeline on when things are going to go downhill. :(

    Sorry for your loss.

Live each day with with your mom. Love her and support her, and try to make her laugh, even if only a little.

Ditto. I antipate losing my grandmother in the near future. Take advantage of the time you have. It is unfortunate many of us don't do this on a daily basis with those we love.
