I think this is a good price. Don't know much about computers (never owned one).

    12" Powerbook + Apple Care + Free Ipod Mini = $1739
    or
    12" iBook + Apple Care + Free Ipod shuffle = $1139

Catch is you must be a graduating student of the university. I have a friend that offered to get it for me. Deadline is this Friday (2 days to go).

Main use is for internet, email, movies, photoshop, and iTunes.

    Should I, should I, should I?

BTW, should something happen to the computer and need repairs, the AppleCare would be under her name. How do I get around this if she's the one "buying" it for me?

Here are the stock prices: 12" powerbook with combo(cd-rw,dvd-rom) drive = $1500
6GB iPod mini = 250. Add those together, and its only 20 dollars more stock from apple. I would say only get this deal if you really want apple care for your stuff.

I forgot to mention, the $1739 comes with the superdrive.

I guess the question is AppleCare worth it?

Scrap my prior post then. Its a pretty good deal. And yes, for the price you are getting it at, apple care is definately worth it.
