Did something new for this Rally. I built my own GPS for the D200, Everyone else online was using some lame handheld or had something mounted on the hotshoe. That shizzle is annoying. I don't use a strap, So I figured out something else.

Basically what I did is got the MC-35 cable off of Adorama. Cut the bitch in half and soldered it directly to this: http://www.amazon.com/GlobalSat-BR-355-Serial-Receiver-Enabled/dp/B000VUFGF8 and put it all inside that little box that is on the left of my RRS bracket. The pictures shown is a mock up. But now has a cable coming out of the front facing bottom that routes up to the plug in.

It works pretty damn good, Takes about 2 minutes to lock-on for the first time. then if i have the camera off and turn it back on in the same day it takes about 5 seconds to lock back on.

So this weekend I thought it would be pretty useful to use at the rally. So I took a bunch of pictures (only had GPS on the d200, but thats my main body, the D300 pictures do not have any GPS Exif data).

EXIF Data Does not show Exact cordinates, but when you put them on Google Earth or Maps, It does.

My neighbor bought the Sony one, which would refuse to sync with our PST. It'd always be 8 hours off no matter how you'd set the time zone. So we finally gave up and returned it.

So that's just so you know exactly where the shot was taken, correct?

    that's odd.

you can setup GPicSync to automatically adjust the time by X minutes/hours, then all of your pics sync perfectly.
