Not sure which one to buy. What's OT's opinion on the matter?

I'm not into GOW type games but that looks fun - FFXIII sucked.

    All the hate on FFXIII

It's a good game, story is just a bit meh but the gameplay more than makes up for it IMO

    ibhate :o

XII really surprised me with how good it was but I also wasn't hesitating to buy it. For whatever reason I'm worried about how this one will be. The reviews haven't offered enough insight for me to feel comfortable buying it.

Exceedingly linear exploration and character progression

This line alone has me completely turned off. It not only doesn't sound like an FF game but that doesn't even spell RPG imo.

For purchase FF13 just because it is way longer. You can beat GOW3 with one rental.

Don't listen to faggot reviewers or OTers. Most of them hate FF/JRPG games to begin with, so they're biased against it.

Final Fantasy XIII is a good game. If you like awesome graphics, an exciting and interesting story, and extremely long play time, you'll like it.

They've removed and changed a lot of things that were staples of the FF series, so it feels a lot different, but it's still a good game on its own.

I watched my brother play 13, looked exactly like 10, except you have a new style of combat that changes often.

Well it's like x-2 where you can switch jobs mid battle. I have not personally played 13 so I don't know if this was my brother being weird or if it's normal to switch jobs every 45 seconds or less.

FF13 is kind of lame from the 6-7 hours I've played it so far. The new kind of combat is called Paradigm Shift and you change the "position" of each member. For example if you have three people you can start as Ravager Medic Synergist. You can Paradigm Shift and turn it into Sentinel Medic and Ravager.

The first approx.11-12 hours are pretty shitty, once you get past that it gets much better imo.

And by the same logic don't listen to the JRPG fanboys who sackride any FF.

Sorry, the guy asked for my opinion and I gave it and I'm far from the only one who didn't like it.

That's an insane amount of time to power through a game to get to the "good" stuff.

Anyway, I bought GoW3 and the collection so I can give myself a refresher.
