I'll have to try one out at the Apple store, but I think I'll keep my Intellipoint mouse.

yeah, but mighty mouse has 4 buttons, whereas this one only has 2.

no more middle click, no more side click.

they can easily add it in software side though. I think.

    Gotta love apple...

...for claiming the Mac Mini is the most energy efficient desktop. The actual reason being that its also the most underpowered.

...and for offering the base macbook with higher specs than the base macbook pro for $200 less.

...and for simplifying the mouse but removing tactile feedback in scrolling. I don't know about everyone else, but a scroll wheel works just fine. But I guess Apple always has to do something different, and people lap it up.

I'm not trying to troll, but all the stuff that came out yesterday is a little weak. Also, they are charging $150 for a 270Mhz bump in the C2D in the mac mini.

CPU power is only a part your computers power usage :hsugh:

It has a larger HD, but other than that you miss out on firewire, alu case, backlit kbd etc, possibly a difference in screen but who knows. again :hsugh:

I like scrolling on my mbp.... it has no real 'tactile feedback' yet it works so well. And hey, anything is better than the old ball (which was a great idea but sucks because it fucked up so much). And if you want a standard old scroll wheel mouse go buy one for $10. Who gives a fuck... do you need one with an apple logo on it to 'lap up'?

you also get another 2gb of ram, and another 160gb in your hd.. not a bad deal..

yes you are asshole, you cant fool me.

But a huge part of it.

$200. That's a lot of money for firewire and less HDD space, to me anyway.

It's still a dumb idea. Yes, people will buy it for the logo.

No no. This is on the configuration screen. If you select the 2.53ghz option it costs $150. No extra RAM, no extra HDD space.

Asshole for sharing thoughts other than :wackit: on an apple product?

In the mac mini's case yeah, in a standard desktop, not so much.

but keep in mind if it didnt use a laptop cpu and similar parts it wouldn't be so mini - and would probably also have a bitch of a loud fan to go with. but hey, at least then it wouldnt be so green and you couldnt bitch about their green statement?

I guess if you want a core i7 etc you need to look somewhere else :hsugh:

Yeah, i'll admit that the 13" mbp should have got the bigger hd for some parity, but still you pay a premium for the Al case etc just as you always have, so really no big deal, just the same shit as always?

I'm willing to try it before I label it a dumb idea, but sure, you can be ignorant. And the reason people 'buy it for the logo' is because they are always making something new and different (good or bad is not the point). If they bought a cheap logitech mouse and slapped an apple on it like microsoft do with theirs then, while practical, it would be boring, would you be happy with that? why not just by a cheap boring mouse then and stop having a useless rant?

oic - guess you should go with the extra $50 and at least get the ram + hd :dunno:

No your an asshole for well, being an asshole.

Well that's what I mean, its an efficient desktop because it uses laptop parts that are underpowered. It's marketing spin.

I agree, but it begs the question as to who would pay $200 for the aluminium.

I may be wrong, but its not ignorant to say I don't think its a good idea.

but as I said, that is also how it is mini.... how is that spin?

And why would you pay anything for an apple because they have no mouse buttons and you could build it your self for half the price and then put a hackintosh os on top of that and :mb: :mb: :o

You didnt say that you didn't think it was a good idea, you said that it is a dumb idea.... therefore you are ignorant and an asshole, an ignorant asshole if you will.

It's spin because while it may sit on a desktop and lack a screen, it is essentially a laptop because of its internals. That's why it is the most energy efficient 'desktop', because not many other desktops have such low specs. i.e. it's nothing special to say its the most energy efficient desktop.

Now you're assuming I'm a massive Apple hater. I'm picking apart yesterdays updates and now I'm one of 'those' people. I'm simply pointing a few things out.

I recognise you, i'm not calling you a hater.. I just think your points are opinionated and silly.

Look at this piece of shit:
    http://www.asus.com.au/product.aspx?P_ID=sqjA6wgoszjH2VJA
"Speedy loading of your PC applications and programs" now that is fucking bullshit - a shit ass celeron and 512 MB ram...

The mini has balls for its size and I really dont know why you think its underpowered or how the fact that it uses laptop parts makes it less of a computer? And guess what - average people like small and sleek, most computers will be like this in the future.

To me the mouse is a good idea, but its kind of like the touch screen vs physical keyboard battle with cell phones. I'd much rather have the control of buttons and scroll wheel over the touch pad.

It's not any less computer at all. Its that they call it the most energy efficient desktop as if its something really impressive. That was only a throw away line anyway, its obviously not a huge deal.

Yeah those asus things are really really shitty.

About the size of the mini - do people honestly care? My computer is huge, but I tuck it away in the corner and never move it. I bet most people barely move their mini, so why do Apple keep pushing the small thing with it?

I love the look of the mini and I like small and sleak. But I can't understand paying the premium for how it looks.
