I'm looking at adding either a AR or another AK to the collection. I have a MAK-90 right now but it was given to me so I would never sell it and would like to buy my own. :hs: I'm also wanting a AR to mix it up a little. I'm hoping to get one or both of these by Nov. :x: I'm thinking about just getting a lower and a cheaper AK for now. Or should I just get a "Better" AK and wait on the AR, or vice versa?
    I can't decide. :run: :noes:

build the AR, first. If you don't want to worry about rails and optics at first, then you don't have to... but get a working AR first.

MAK-90s are nice rifles. Have you gotten a proper pistol grip and stock for yours yet? The butthole stock thing is kinda dumb. More AKs is never a bad thing :)

ARs are fun too. Ammo prices suck though.

I never got a pistol grip because I wanted to leave it the way it was. That's also another reason I want another AK. I love that pistol grip. :naughty:

5.45 ammo is cheap, more accurate then x39 and you already have an x39 one so why not go with a different caliber unless your looking for an underfolder.

Thats a good one you can probably find one from some other builders that are decent for $500-525

Could I get a 74 with a fixed wood stock or can they be changed like a 47? I hate the metal ones. :o

One of my local shops has a NIB WASR 2 and it is tempting me right now.

I know the centurys are pretty hit or miss. Are there any specific things I should be looking for when I check it out?

They use G2 triggers now so slap isn't a worry, main things to be concerned about now are canted sights and what type of job they did cutting out the magwell.

Spikes lowers are badass, mainly because I love the bullet marking and their logo is

    TL,
I think I'm going to build my own. You were saying get the A2 if I don't go scope. How will I go about that since I'm building it?

Just use an A2 upper receiver.

Several manufactures sell AR kits, which basically include everything but the stripped lower. You can get pretty simple kits for ~$450ish.

I just purchased a mid length 16" kit from www.del-ton.com

    http://www.del-ton.com/AR_15_Rifle_Kits_16_s/57.htm

It's a good way to go to get a taste of building your own rifle, but having some of the parts preassembled.

My dealings with Del-Ton in my AR building infancy:

    Glad they've since been educated.

I can understand some people having confusions with california law. Better for them to be overly cautious then not.

At least they're not like some places that say "fuck california, we won't ship there, all guns are illegal there"
