My new (to me) Sig P229 DAK with night sights in .357sig and .40s&w, bought it for only $495... It's so fucking sexy .

Only thing is that the front night sight is very dim even in a pitch black room with the lights off, so i'll have to buy a new front sight, but other than that I got an awesome deal.

Nice. If I ever get a Sig, it'll be a DAK.

Sweet. I've got one in 40 S&W and it's my favorite. Have you had a chance to try it out yet?

Negative, CPO DAK Sig's don't exist, for some reason Sig converts all of their DAK guns they get in for the CPO program to DA/SA.

DAK stands for Double Action Kellerman, it's essentially Sig's version of a DAO gun and after dry firing damn near 100+ guns at the past few gun shows, nothing even remotely comes close to the buttery smoothness of the DAK trigger.

Cool. This one was a standard DA/SA

how does the DAK compare to the DA pull in the DA/SA gun.

It's a LOT nicer. The DA pull in the DA/SA version feels almost twice as heavy as the DAK trigger pull. The DAK trigger is 6.5 pounds and I believe the DA pull in the DA/SA version is 10 or 11 pounds.

DA pull is rated at 12lbs, i believe.

i'm not a large individual so i don't have particularly large hands. DA pull on my 229 is hard as hell for me. ordered a sig short trigger today. we'll see how that helps leverage.

wolff hammer springs springs can lower this down to 8.5, anything after that you'll get light primer strikes and compromise reliability.

the wolff springs also need to be replaced every 3-5k rounds as they weaken and you'll get light primer strikes from that too.

if the short trigger and some practice doesn't help much, i may do a DAK conversion.

I just called Sig customer service to get some info on it. I gave them the serial number and they said that it was manufactured in March of 2004, so it's practically new :bigthumb:. I was kind of afraid they were going to say it was from 1996 or something, but since it's DAK it has to be fairly new within the past few years.

I also told them about the front SigLite/Trijicon night sight being VERY dim and she and they said that they'll replace it for me no questions asked. Keep in mind I bought this gun used, out of warranty, and it's not a CPO, but the woman I spoke to at Sig said it doesn't matter at all because Sig stands behind their product .

    +1 for Sig customer service.

out of warranty after less than 2 years? and warranties go with the gun, not the owner.

Yeah, especially over the already massive Beretta M9 grip.
