After posting here and reading the comments about whether or not I should get a mac mini...i decided to check out the apple store. Went down w/ the g/f to just "check them out". That store always takes my money away. I ended up walking out with the 1.42ghz 80gig/cd-r/dvd-rom deal. Got it for $579 w/ ed. discount. I also picked up the bluetooth adapter and bluetooth keyboard. MY g/f kept her promise and talked me out of a Cinema Display. I told her fom the beginning...don't let me buy a display...if anything just the computer.

Anyway, the thing is pimp. I have it hooked up to my 18" Mitsubishi LCD through DVI, and my pc is running through the same monitor on VGA. The mini is hotness. I'll post up a few pics in a few minutes.

-Already, have a 1.3ghz Powerbook I bought 8 months ago. ITs great expanding Apple products in the house! :)

THe mini and my external HD for size reference.

    Thanks for the comments guys.

Anyone know how to rip the mini apart? I need to add more ram. THe 256mb it came with is terrible. It uses notebook ddr correct? Also, does anyone know if the 256mb it comes with is built in like on the notebooks, or if its using the expansion slot?

It's just one slot and is replaceable. Here's a vid on how to take it apart: http://www.smashsworld.com/2005/01/taking-apart-mac-mini-how-to.php

Sweet. Well I had to buy a putty nice. I bought the thinest one available at home depot. Very easy to take apart. I bought 512mb of desktop ddr at Best Buy. Popped it in and the computer is alot faster. Definitly worth it.
