Ok, im a 20 year PC user.
    Just got my first mac!

So far, so good, very sharp, very intuitive, almost too easy to use.

    Just now installing my applications.
Question though, will my photoshop registered serials work with mac versions?
And... where can I find an old photoshop 7 mac version, I have much h8 for CS even though I have CS2 and 3 :hs:

I don't have an answer to your Adobe software question but I am going to say that I am jealous.

you don't want anything but CS3 on that machine...
anything before CS3 will run dog slow...

and your pc serials for photoshop won't work on a mac, you need os specific serials

welcome aboard. read the stickies at the top of the forum and read this http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/

if you got questions ask, but seeing your have a sub, do a search, most of the questions have been answered

    thanks for the word!

Quick question.. (i searched but no answer yet)
Can I use my PC adobe serials for Mac?
I can just download cs2 or 3 and use my pc serials if that works!

I know that my macromedia serials worked no problem :)

If you use Adobe apps seriously at ALL you won't be able to tolerate a non-intel-native version. It sucks, but that's the way it is.

Well, like anything, if I am to wait around for the newest releases, I will never get one because they are always under contant updates.

On another note though, the 17 inch is a bit cumbersome, Im tending to lean towards the 15inch in the future, specially if it has a better screen.

pretty much, you'll be waiting forever, cause "it's coming out in a month" is a common thing in the apple world...

and yeah, 17 incher is huge, the 15.4 is the sweetspot

I've never felt like the 17 is big at all. I love the screen real estate for working on big excel sheets and stuff, and it's so slim and tidy that it doesn't feel any larger than my old 15" windows machine.

shit lol, thought you were serious.

Well, today is day 2 with the mcb and productivity is nill as im still setting up shit and transferring files.

    Some highlights I'm impressed with...
    - very intuitive, but at times too easy to use
    - speed is amazing so far
    - most software is pretty stable
    - some of the included software is rather good for being free...
    - garageband is amazing
    - WoW loaded no problem although wont work at full resolution, but thats a wow issue.

    Some things not happy with...
    - simple things like shortcut to lock screen is not easy to implement. (windows key + L) like.
    - firewall settings are automatically configured (i want to know what app is accessing and decide my own rules)
    - firefox is a bit buggy
    - msn messenger sucks ass, switched to adium
    - no video chat support for messenger

My Leopard disc should arrive within a day or two, then we start all over again :)

oh and firefox refresh f5 sucks on mcb because the f5 key is bound to increase volume by default.
Is there a single click refresh for firefox?

BTW, if you own a serial for the current version of Photoshop, you can CALL Adobe and get a full Mac version for basically the cost of shipping in what they call a cross platform upgrade. Just call them, tell them you switched to Mac and you can get the full Mac version of any Adobe software you own a serial for.

If you need to upgrade, its just the upgrade cost to get the full version on the new platform.

But you have to call them, they do not advertise it on the website.
