I'm in Army ROTC and got my first PT tomorrow morning. I weight around 185 and can rep 205 pretty easily on bench so I don't think push ups will be a problem. I'm not very fast though, my mile time is 7:30. Sit ups will be hard because I haven't worked on my abs recently.

  2. it all depends on what kind of workout is scheduled for you tomorrow and how your school runs it.

I was AF ROTC, but I used to workout with the Army ROTC unit as well. FY, I had similar weight/strength as you.

They liked doing a lot of pushups, a lot of situps, and a lot of running. Your ability to push weight doesn't matter. The workouts typically consisted of 15-20 minutes of several sets of pushups/situps/stretching and a 3-5 mile run @ a 7 min/mile pace.

One thing they liked to go was go through a deck of cards. Each card number was the number of pushups you would do, facecards were 10. They're run through the whole deck.

It was pretty hard. Started out stretching and did 2 warm up laps. Did a bunch of sit ups then ran 6 miles though the ghetto of philly. Then did 30 seconds of sit ups and 30 seconds of push ups, then 45sec of both, then 60sec of both, then 60sec of both, then 45sec of both and then 30sec of both. It was pretty damn hard

It was my first day of PT. They had the first PT last week but I couldn't go because I had to get a physical. I'm positive we ran 6 miles.

What can I do about shin splints? I got them last week from the 6 mile run and they hurt like shit. I had PT again this morning with the shin splits and it made it harder then it should have been. I have PT again on Thursday. Anything I can do about it?

The correct shoe is very important when running. Try going to a specialty running store and ask for their advice.

Shin splints? Are you kidding me? You're gonna be an officer, officer's don't do hurt. Officer's take APFTs with broken legs, shit I've seen an officer take an APFT while in a comma. You better get your mentality right.

If you want to fix your shin splints, walk on your heels for about ten minutes before running. Only let your heels touch the ground. Or you could buy Nike Free shoes.
