for $40, it's definitely not bad.

Great for gifts or lower-end stuff ... i definitely wouldn't use it for a wedding or anything, obviously.

I'll take some pics of it over lunch.

EDIT: Here you go ... i just took some quick shots and resized.

sized a pic to be the size of two pages, cut it in half, uploaded one on each page:

I've used the blurb books before and maybe I'm just picky but I thought the absolutely sucked for quality. :ugh:

It would be nice if they've improved.

the full-page pictures were a bit grainy.

i definitely wouldn't use this for something i was getting paid for, but would definitely give it to friends of my parents as a gift or something.

all in all, i think it's quite nice for ~$40. the images were a bit grainy, but nothing I wasn't really expecting. i haven't compared the colors to the originals, but I believe they're pretty close ... maybe a bit warmer than I planned, but again, nothing big. I was in the wedding and just "had my camera with me", so figured this would be a nice way to give them what I shot.

i'd definitely use them again for a fun little 'project', but wouldn't use it for a "client" of some sort that was actually paying me. :o

how much you want to spend? what size/paper options?

if you really want to do a LOT of images, LULU.com can do huge books of proofing quality, not exactly finished work, but I know they can easily do 700+ pages :eek3:

wow. that looks a TON better than the book I got from them. I didn't even want to keep the one that I got, much less give it to someone else.

yeah, it did lose some, but that was expected. they tell you specifically how to size the image so you don't lose much, but i didn't take a lot of time to mess with it.

Either that or they've vastly improved their workflow since I got a book from them.

I tried them out about a year ago and the problems with the book were numerous and pronounced. Things like overall print quality looked like it had been done on a color copier, the registration on spreads was WAY off, color was dark and muddy even on images that were bright, poor paper quality, etc. etc. etc.

I'd shown it to one of the print buyers in the mar-comm department where I work, just to get a sanity check and make sure I wasn't completely wrong, and I was told that my best option was to "set the book on fire".:hs:
