It's not going to do you any good if it's scratched down to the primer. You don't have to repaint your whole car, just the panel that the scratches are on.

He can read all he wants about removing scratches, but if it's down to the primer there's nothing he can do about it.

Where in CA are you? I know of a mobile paint & body repair dude around L.A. My neighbor had a ding/scratch on his 1mo old CL55 and he just got it fixed by him a week ago.

An easy way to tell if your out of luck or not, is to simply feel the scratch with your fingernail. From experience, to keep a safe Mil level of paint on the vehicle anything that would catch your finger nail that means your out of luck.

Oh yeah I think a white layer can appear for more than one reason. I just remembered a seminar i attended on detailing, a pro took a bucket and ran the edge of it all over this red vehicle. The paint turned white in fact, but we removed it with a rotary and everything was cool.

Right, that's transfer. The plastic on the bucket transferred to the paint. I doubt the metal from a key transferred to paint. It's scratched.

If you see white, it's down to the primer. You see white, therefore it's down to the primer. I thought I explained this before...

If done properly, it would look OK. Search, there's a pretty good thread on here about how to repair small dings with touch up paint. I don't know that it would work right for key marks.

I know you're trying to do this on the cheap, but the only solution that's going to make it look the way you want is a repaint.

Depends on the shop, everyone charges differently. Around here, I would expect to pay about $1K for that work.

EMT is right on the spot, if you can see white you are fucked, stated this you can:

1.- Use touch up paint to make it less obvious
    2.- Repaint

Of course it would make your rates go up, it's a claim.

Well my truck got keyed one time at work. I so so miserable like you. It got keyed from the fender, to the bed of the truck, but they missed the door. The whole bed that is 6 foot, and the fender. IT cost me 500 dollars for the repair/ At first i didnt have the money either so what i did was use touch up paint to hide it. It really didnt hide it cause it was so deep, but it did take away from it a tad!

if you met me, you would know that iam not that type of person to start shit or anything like that.

so thats why it sucks to be me.

a motive would have been a little more forgiving.
