A guy complained to the manager at the family fitness that I was dropping my measly DL weights with too much noise. His life partner also complained. I know it was these two guys because they told me I was making too much noise before and I told them to fuck off. So the manager says to me that two complaints have been made about the noise. After arguing with the manager for a bit, I just left. Totally killed my workout. Commercial gyms ftl. I need to find a powerlifting gym in Orange County.

Cliffs: Guy and life partner complained about me dropping the DL weights. Manager also complains.

They suck, but I still have to say that you should be able to put your dumbbells down with some manner of control :o

It's hard to find a gym that doesn't cater to pansies, because pansies make up their biggest cash flow- pay, then don't show up but once or twice.

I was using a barbell but I didn't drop the weights dead on either. I placed them down but they still made noise.

:eek4: Sounds like your gyms filled with a bunch of slack-jawed faggots. Only time I've even come remotely close to any sort of complaint is when some idiot launched the 110lb DB's directly behind him and conviently at the bench i was on. Stupid shit like that puts other people at risk though. Dropping a DL? Give me a break.

    Gratz on 3k post. :o

good work on telling them to fuck off.

let me guess, they can't concentrate doing bicep curls with the noise?

hahah.....my DL story owns your though....

    SLDL
    135x8
    225x8
    275x8

some little shit who couldnt DL the bar if his life depended on it came over and said:
little shit:"you need to stop droping the weights"
me: my hands never left the bar, I had control the entire way down I did not drop the weights
little shit: then why was it making noise?
me: do you understand what a deadlift is? if you set it down slowly you will fuck your back up
little shit: then you need to not to deadlifts here
me: HAHA *plugs headphones back in and adds more weight*

    315x8

little shit: sir if you dont stop Im going to have to ask you to leave
me: I've got two more sets and I'll be done with my noisy deadlifts
*headphones and weights...see him use his radio and I notice the manager of the CRC coming over**

    365x8
*making it very obvious that I dont give a shit and basically divebombing each rep....kind became regular DL's**

Head Douchbag: Sir you need to stop making so much noise, the weights arent designed for that
me: the floor has an inch of rubber on it and the plates are rubber coated, what the fuck are they designed for...looking pretty on the weight tree?
Head Douchbag: sir they are not designed for this kind of use
me: cool, I've got one more set and I'll be done
Head Douchbag: no you need to stop now
me: thats not going to happen, I've got lifting to do and you are bothering me....I have not been violating any rules
Head Douchbag: you were dropping the weights
me: did my hands leave the bar?
Head Douchbag: how does that matter?
me: well if my hands were on the bar, which they were, then by defination I did not drop the weight...so if youll excuse me I've got a set to do

**headphones, weights, and I pull the chalk out which is a huge no-no supposedly...so I did end up breaking a rule....Head Douchbag calls radio again**

    405x5

After the 4th rep I look up and see a cop coming across the gym so I pull the fuck out of the last one and let it drop from like waist high

me: THAT is dropping the weight, thank you and have a nice day
**pick up bag and begin to leave**
Head Douchbag: sir you need to rerack yoru weights
me: you serious?!?! after all the shit you jsut gave me you can do it
cop: Sir is there a problem
me: no officer I was jsut leaving

*I turned my towel in and left*

in retrospect I should have kept on going becasue I was pumped was fuck and the last 405 pull was practially a "high pull".....could gotten a huge PR....time to get some more shit for my basement for when I cant make it to NGBB

i appreciate the fact that at least my gym trainers speak politely and ask nicely if we could just lower the noise a lil. they're smart enough to know what we're doing and why we make noise. :coolugh:

stop trying to be like dieselwiesel. unless youre moving 500+ there's no reason for you to be dropping weights.

I go to a college gym, and surprisingly enough there are alot of big lifters there. Alot of guys doing deads and squats. Have never seen anyone getting hassled over making noise. Last time I was there I was doing SLDL and lost my grip at the end. I laid it down pretty gentle though, almost at the cost of my fingers since I was on a platform. There are these two guys that like to throw the dbs when doing bench. Not drop, but []throw[/] the weights forward when they're done. I can respect that they're lifting some heavy weights, but is it necessary to throw the weights? Especially when you have a spotter?

P.S. GTLifter: Good story. Is the CRC a school gym? I go to an "ARC". The staff there is cool though. Only time I saw someone dl'ing well over 400 pounds noone gave em shit about noise, everyone just watched in awe.

most our weights are upstairs, and those of us who do deadlifts do them upstairs. it shakes rattles and rolls the hell out of the whole upstairs, but i dont think anyone complains. my gyms pretty bad ass, seeing how we got an old pro Body builder that works there now.
