It seems as though when I can't sleep I just take a self portrait. This is me earlier: Haven't slept in 24 hours. 6:30 rolled around and I said fuck it, I gotta be up in an hour and a half.

When you take self portraits (on a timer I assume), how do you make sure you get the focus right?

Prefocus, then trial and error. I don't know if they were perfectly in focus until I load them on the computer. :o

When I do a self portrait, I just aim the camera at where my face should be, relative to the chair I would be sitting on. Then I use a wireless shutter to focus, take the pic.

Gotcha, the best method I've found on my D300 is to set up an interval shot. It can take however many pics you want at any time gap. The camera focuses before it takes every shot. So it always misses the first 2-3 while you get settled, but after that it basically just goes snap snap snap and they are all in focus :bigok:

huh? You AV shows a Canon and there is no wireless shutter that also will focus, is there? I thought the wireless one just opens and closes teh shutter only. It is the wired one that will also focus.

I use the wired trigger and I extended the line so I have a 23 foot cord now

I thought I saw a wireless one that did focus as well.. It was just extremely expensive. I think it's the same one that does interval shooting as well.

I use the corded one too because it was only a few bucks
