Stock isn't a problem, the "skins" come off via those screws you can see and are easily interchangeable. If you do get one be prepared to spend some $$$ on glass, don't cheap out and put some $500 scope on it. (As much as I like the super sniper on my 700P I wouldn't be caught dead with one on an AI rifle :o )

true. I got the itch on the 4th. My fiance's gf's dad has a far and he has a setup on his porch that overlooks the fields and he had a groundhod that kept coming out down near the pond. 350 yards away and I had his 338, tried 3 times and still missed it. Pissed me off.

You don't need an AE to shoot 350 yards, just get a 700 :o

and that's quite a large caliber to be using on groundhogs

Not to try and get to nosey, but you must have made a lot of cash on your pet store. Did you hit 6 figures in profit?

yeah and with other ventures as well.

the groundhog was huge, bigger than a fat cat it was like the size of a large jack russel. But I think his scope was off. Tried on th dross hairs, one dot below the crosshairs and a little below that.

the ai ae are around 3k without optics.

Caliber and distance don't mean shit is something else is off, too many variables here. And .338 might mean WM, not Lapua.

I would say if you are going to drop serious money on a rifle, just get one custom built by a smith on the action of your choosing :dunno:

I'm telling you, just buy a 700 like a VSF, VSSF, VSSF II, LVSF, etc and just slap a decent scope on it and it will do what you're going to want to do with it. You could also find a donor rifle or action and have it restocked/barreled/whatever or buy a custom action and have something built off of it; Kampfeld Custom does nice work

Actually they went into liquidation in 2005 and were bought out, and now they're back in business. I was pretty sure that happened sometime.
