    Airmen Against Drunk Driving.

I know this is a pretty AF wide thing, Keesler's is a great program.
Where military personnel volunteer their own off-duty time and gas to be an on call DD for any card carrying military member that is too drunk to drive. All they have to do is call the number and they get a free ride home. If they abuse the system in any way (i.e. not being drunk and using as taxi, or trying to get driver to take them to another bar) then their name is taken and their First Shirt notified. Other than abusers it is fairly anonymous. Pretty much endorsed from the base commander down.

Do other branches have something similar?

We have a card that we can call Staff Duty for and they'll send someone out to get us. I think there is a Taxi fund as well. Nothing exactly similar to that though.

We have AADD here in Altus. My co-worker is one of the few people in charge of it right now. I'm doing it here in a few weekends. Figured since I've used them before, might as well be a driver for a night. We also have some deal with the taxi service where if you don't have money that night, they take your information and you go see them the next day to pay.

the last two bases i was at, we carried cards that gave us "free" taxi rides. the squadron would pay, but you had to pay them back the next week. i think at the one squadron you didn't even have to pay them back, but even though they said it was non-retribution, i never used it. i don't want the higher ups knowing about my personal life any more than they have to.

Yeah, here you have to attend two monthly meetings and volunteer for three shifts before becoming a member (and being able to claim on EPR). Each shift counts as eight hours. People were volunteering one night a year, not driving anyone and claiming they saved the world through AADD.

They should be castrated so as not to poison the gene pool.

    But you're only 22 :ugh2:

You should at least put some of your fishies on ice for a few years if you go through with the vasectomy.

It was huge at Sheppard and they made mention to it at Mcguire once but never heard anything about it again.

I've made up my mind, and if I and a future woman really wanted one I'd rather adopt.

This is a different topic though :hs:

here in yuma we have "Arrive Alive" cards. basically we call a cab and present them with the card. they will drive you back to base and like somebody said above the command will be billed, and you pay later or something like that.

I have never known anyone who has actually called AADD. We know its there but for some reason never choose to use it. There have been 3 DUI's in my squadron alone in the past 3 months including one this weekend. Some people are just fucking stupid.

Yeah the folks who do use it tend to be repeat users.
I think because they think someone will "tell" on them, or that they somehow feel it is uncool to use.

most bases have money at the gate that you pay back, top 3 ususally controls it
    and of course AADD
we have FADD at fairford becuase its so small, eglin was AADD

but there isnt enough support for FADD so they are trying to make it that a squadron or two has it for a 3 month period
only 5 squadrons on base and CE has 9 military, we are tiny but our own squadron becuase of civillian size

cops have less but they flal under ABW
so we get hosed but our super is fighting it in the top 3
becuase thats bs, i live 16 miles from base now and im supposed to drive to some bumfuck town, pick you up take you to base then go home fuck that

i also have an s2000 so i can only pick up one person..

but really in about ayear its only been called like 2 times.. so no one uses it, burnt out program

thats what they are fighting, they are bitching becuase its a small base and there arent enough people to man it..
my thing is then dont have one, make sure people are smart enough to not drink and drive we get DUIs on base but honestly with a base of 250 you have to be smarter then that..

i was speeding throuhg the local area going to base on new years for a party and got pulled at the gate he is like have you been drinking i said no
we waited for the breath test i blew a zero and he let me go with a warning

hes like its not that i dont believe you and i cut him short i said its new years man i understand... im not worried

good thing i didnt have them white russians before i came
