Just got a Pioneer vsx-405 receiver and a Pioneer 5.1 surround system. The receiver has a subwoofer out (RCA) connection, but the subwoofer only has connections for regular speaker wires. Is there any way I can hook the sub up to the receiver, other than using the speaker wire.
I have the subwoofer connected via speaker wire into the back of the receiver, but the sub is powerful enough for me. If I do find a way to connect the sub to the receiver via the subwoofer out RCA line, will it be bassier?

sounds like a passive sub to me...It doesn't plug in by itself or have its own amp on it ?? Then there's no way to hook it up through the sub mono cable

nope, just has the hook-ups for the speakers (input and output for front speakers). Can you recommend me a decent sub that can be connected to the sub pre-out? I am on quite a budget, so under $100 or so would be good. I spent $85 on the whole system
