    :noes:

I went to multiple dealers today after reading the advice you guys gave me. I looked at an STI Trojan, some Springfields and two Dan Wessons. I liked the way the Trojan felt, but it just wasn't as appealing visually as some of the other guns. The dealers I went to only had the Dan Wessons in a 4.5 or 4 inch barell in .45 . There was a 5" but it was 10mm. I really wanted a 1913 rail and saw the Springfield MC Operator. I really liked the way the gun felt in my hands and the design of it. The place I bought it from does gun smithing work and really recommended the Operator platform. I figured that whatever I would purchase would probably need some smith work since that's what I had read in my help thread. I decided to go with the MC Operator. I figure it's a pretty solid platform to build off of, and with the money I saved, I can spend that on upgrades and other things for it. I haven't shot it yet, but the build quality looks good, and it is pretty tight. Anyway, I'm sure I'll get flamed for my choice, but I really like it, and plan to begin customizing it right away.

Here are some pics I took.

    What do you guys think?

No flames from me. Very nice choice. Springfield is one of the few manufacturers that I dont own any firearms from. I suppose I should change that soon. But yeah, nice choice. The chrome looking muzzle end is a nice touch.

Yeah, it's hit or miss with people. My best friend hates it too. Other than that did I do good?

Nothing wrong with the Operator, and Springfield has excellent customer service if you have any issues.

You could have done much worse, like a Kimber. ;)

Hell yeah, now were talking dude! You did good! Series 70, internal extractor, lifetime warranty.

    Springer PX9105

I'm not fond of light rails, that's my only gripe. Other than that, you done better than the Kimber in my book. Good job! I love the olive drab.

If you want to go all out here's what I'd suggest if (and I know you do :) ) want to upgrade it.

-S&A Mag well ( I like the arched models )
-Custom grips, take a look at Larry Davidson http://www.davidsonknives.com/grips/grips.htm

    or VZ http://www.vzgrips.com/

    Get the magwell, ambi cuts.

Sights? That's highly subjective dependant on your application. Novaks are okay for CCW, because they are less snaggy.

Trigger group, triger, hammer sear, etc.

    Call it good!

I'll check out those sites later today. I'm hoping to hit up the range today to finally shoot it. I wanna see how the trigger creep is, some people on 1911forum were saying the ILS system that Springfield uses causes this issue but it can be removed.

I wanna get grips right away I think. The night sights are alright, but I'm in no rush to change them yet...mabye down the road after trigger and things like that.

Thanks for the compliments and input.

Great choice and should be a fantastic 1911 to start with.

I actually love that color scheme. The green and black look great together IMO.

Yeah, I don't like them, but don't hate them either. I was looking at getting a set of these.

but I'm open to other suggestions. I wonder how the dessert tan ones would look on my gun?

I'd probably stick to black vs wood or anything else for this one.
