So I got a job taking pictures of various events for the paper.

    They have a D200 that I get to use...

$25/picture. They usually use about 2-3 pics per job. So anywhere from $25-$75 per day which is about one hour of work.

    WOOOOOOT!

Eh, not bad if it's freelance work. Just don't quit your day job (advice I got from a big photog at the Houston Chronicle, haha)

Gotta start somewhere, nothing wrong with that....super low money though :o

What kind of shots do you need to get? As long as you aren't working more than an hour or so a day (including travel time) I would be ok with it..if they are expecting more than that for $25 a shot (no price difference between a front page spread and deep in the middle?) I would do it for a little bit but be on the look out for something that pays decent.

Prepare a kick ass portfolio and take it to your local newspaper. Start small, work up.
