Does Beretta still make pistols? I haven't seen many people posting about them anymore... I always wanted to get one just to expand the collection.

I never said they weren't good pistols.... what I meant is I dont see many threads about people buying Bretta pistols. Ya know? Like I see glock and sig threads but nothing really about Brettas. Maybe I dont spend enough time in WMD anymore.

actually, it IS because they arent very good pistols. They were good YEARS ago, but now they are just old and heavy and lack the capacity and firepower of pistols of the same size and even lighter weight (Glock). The army now issues glocks on occasion, and I think they are phasing the berettas out. For good reason.

Still a gun I want to own though. In my book, they are in the same boat as 1911s. Great guns, very cool, solid, but for the same price, weight and size... there are better options. Its just advancement of technology.

Beretta isn't really marketed that much toward real professional operators, so there isn't much love for them here.

Ahhh well I know my friend shoots competitions with them and he loves his 92... I dont konw how many rounds he has through his but last time he said he had about 40,000 through his and that was 4 years ago. I still want one just to have one. How are those new 90 twos? Keep in mind im just a target shooter, im not looking for carry conceal etc. Just good ol fashioned target shooting.

I am pretty sure googling Beretta and RCMP says they do (though most references to the Px4, I have seen one saying 96D) though I see the mentions of the ones you stated too.

    Just shut up now.

Phasing them out?? Really?? That must be why a new Army contract for $220 million dollars worth of M9s was announced in 2009. That's half a million pistols .... they phasing those out too? :mamoru:

Capacity? 15+1 from the factory with optional flush-fit mags to carry 17+1? Or 20+1 with a basepad. Firepower?? Is there some magic restriction that doesn't allow the M9/92 fire the same ammo that other 9mm pistols do? A Glock 17 or Sig P226 has more 'firepower' somehow?

I'm not Beretta fanboy (although I own a 92), but you're just talking out your ass and only contributing misinformation to this thread.

Well it was a $325 .40cal beretta, shoots great, unlike my 21a. I like it, the DAO sucks, but it was cheap.

I use to own a 96D with a brigadier slide which i converted to DA/SA with no safety it was a range gun only.

I did a trigger job, elite II hammer, lightened trigger spring. It was probably the best trigger on any of my beretta's. I sold it and later got a 92FS in which i tried to do all of the above with a D spring but never got it to be as nice. I suspect that the lack of safety components in the D models made the triggers better

    should have never sold it!
