I am deciding between the these two. The SKS has cheaper ammo, but I like the looks of the k98 more and I like how it has history to it. Just knowing that you own a piece of history :hsd:

Anyways, which would you rather buy? I would shoot the k98 still too. I plan to buy both, but one second one will not be for another year or so. I am thinking the k98 because it is becoming more rare?

go with the mauser.. 762x39 may be cheaper, but you'll be firing off those rounds a lot faster, so it will all balance out.. with the mauser its more of an accurate rifle, than an SKS which is more fun as a plinker..

and in the mean time, apply for Curio & relic license, you can order those guns online for cheap and have them shipped right to your house, no transfer fee..

actually I'm not sure about the SKS.. I think its C&R eligible..

    oh well..

Get both! Or you could get a Yugo Mauser, they are still plentiful and cheap.

Everyone should have an SKS though. Tough call.

If you're going to get a Mauser, get a German.
Well, there are the Czech's and Swede's, but the German is more commonly available. The Yugo's aren't the same quality.

A captured Yugo would be good though. Thats what I have. German rifle refinished and restocked by the Yugos.

My Yugo M48 kicks like a beast and no history. I want a WWII Kar98.

It will still kick like a beast but so much more cool.

The SKS is a good first semi-auto rifle but an AR is a lot more fun.
