I'm looking for a compact-subcompact car, practical, yet still "fun" at the same time. I was thinking something like a used xb, xa, civic, etc. Something with a lot of aftermarket parts available could be fun. Any recommendations?

    240sx or 2.5rs (gc8) impreza.

thats what i would get that would still be practical. if you don't need practical i would say miata or mr2.

xB is kinda cool, but I don't think I'd call it "fun" in the way you're looking for.

240SX is probably the safest bet, short of a Civic. And the 240 is RWD.

240sx seems to be a popular one. I'll check those out. deusex, you'd say civic over 240sx?

Its a tossup between an early '90's civic or 240sx... both are liable to be stolen, and both have a plethora of aftermarket parts.

get an old rabbit and fix it up, haha.

The ram intake and the hood clips look dumb as hell, but the rest of the car is okay.

Why is it painted with Krylon?

Sucks when you slip on a wet leaf and kill yourself, though.

Yeah, but my car doesn't pretend to have an LS1 under the hood. As far as cosmetic mods go (*cough*stickonhoodpins*cough*), I've got a nice orange Check Engine Light sticker in the wedge window on my left rear quarter panel.

...because flat paint is hard as shit to keep clean.

integra gsr is fun, reliable, and practical. The type r has been hailed as the best front wheel drive car of all time. And the gsr is almost the same thing, a couple mods and its better

maybe for 10k you could find a type-r but your probaly better off with a gsr

granted I haven't driven a properly tuned 'teg... but I have driven many poorly tuned mk1 vw's, and they are easily the best handling fwd cars I've ever driven. I will take a mk1 scirocco over any fwd any day of the week. they oversteer and understeer only when you want them to.

Damn straight. If I floor the gas on my VW on an offramp, it pulls itself into the turn.

you should try a teg with a good suspension, or a factory type r. I have my car very close to neutral steering. Like you said i can understeer or oversteer depending on how i go about it.
