I had 2 sets of contacts when I exported from outlook to a csv file, then imported to Goog...most likely user error but I'm fine with syncing with Outlook for now.

what are you using on your computer? outlook 2007? outlook express?

did you setup the sync on your phone to your gmail contacts? etc...

    Need more information.

Using Outlook '07...export to csv...imported csv using gmail.com instructions.
Phone was set up correctly using Goog instructions, went over it 3 times. I downloaded the contacts and voila, contacts downloaded as well as individual numbers too. Google had all (most?) my contacts listed and then had phone numbers listed as other contacts below the names area.

My guess is the csv file I exported had either too much info for Gmail or the csv wasn't as compatible as I thought.

Regardless, when I sync via usb to Outlook '07 I have no issues and my contacts keep their pics/ringtones...so I'm not worried about using Goog for now.

I'm currently using Mobile Me/dotMac and I love it how it syncs between my Mac and iPhone pretty seamlessly. If I used Google Calendar more, I'd definitely jump on this.

It's a step in the right direction for Google.
