This is the one I don't understand...

    5. If hypertrophy is your goal, eliminating the stretch-shortening cycle will do more to recruit additional muscle fibers than almost anything else you can do.

    40. Ephedrine is dead, but more efficient compounds have replaced it. For increased metabolism, look to HOT-ROX Extreme. For increased energy and mental acuity, look to Spike.

Thats not a sales pitch or anything :ugh:

ALL of their articles contain sales pitches, T-nation offers good info but you have to sift through the bullshit.

i wouldn't complain, they have to make money somehow. they provide very good articles. they probably couldn't afford their authors without revenue coming from their products.

    maybe this will help?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stretch_shortening_cycle
"As a muscle lengthens, it contracts and produces elastic energy. The force applied to the muscle increases. The muscle then contracts concentrically. The muscle shortens and the energy that has been stored dramatically increases the force of the contraction.

During the eccentric contraction, the muscle stores elastic energy. Muscular tension increases. The elastic energy that has been stored is available for powerful, dynamic movements. By stretching the muscle before it contracts, the muscle contracts with greater force. A consistent plyometric training program will increase the efficiency of the stretch-shortening cycle.

Probably has to do with the antinutrients contained in most grains (and legumes I think) such as phytic acid.

    18. If you do most of your training on a balance board, a Swiss Ball, or a Bosu ball, you'll have a tremendous core and a small, weak body that we'll all laugh at.

    53. Include a back-off week in your training every 12 weeks or so. That pretty much means stay away from the gym.

    is this true

    7. Before doing a set for biceps, triceps, chest, or back, stretch the antagonist muscle beforehand. It'll increase your performance on that next set.
