Hey all, I'm thinking about getting into the vinyl thing. I haven't done a whole lot of research on turntables, other than I know to stay away from the crap in Best Buy/Circuit City/Fry's that have the direct drive motors.

I remember seeing some turntables in the $300-600 range from Music Hall inside of a local audio shop, and I've read some good things about them. Any others I should look into?

Are you going to be mixing or just casual listening?
I'm rocking out a vintage Akai AP-D2 DD turntable and it sounds wonderful.

i started on belt-drives. lol they were a bitch, i basically had to push the records a bit on the start up. but all in all using those shitty turntables made it alot easier to get better when i got direct drives, i saw just get one of those numark beginner packs with the tables/mixer in a box. unless you gots the money to shell out 2-3000 for a technics/pioneer setup. but even then you might realize that spinning isn't for you,

it's like I would tell people to buy a fender/yamaha for their first guitar over a taylor.

Yeah it's nice. I just don't really have any use for it.

Would've liked to have started playing around with it but I don't have the time or patience.
